Sharing and privacy
Everything you add is private. Nothing becomes visible to anyone else unless you share it, and every share can be taken back.
Two ways to share
- With specific people — share an item with a connection and it appears in their "shared with me" world. Only the people you name, only the items you pick.
- With everyone — mark an item Public and anyone with the link can see it, signed in or not, on a clean read-only page. Public cabinets and published Sets get gallery pages you can hand out.
How containers behave
Folders and cabinets can pass their sharing down to what's inside ("inherit"), so sharing a whole folder is one action, not fifty. An item inside can still override — a private item inside a public cabinet stays private, and public pages simply skip past it without revealing it exists.
The sharing summary on each item always shows the honest current answer to "who can see this?" — if it ever surprises you, that's the place to look first.
Who can see my stuff?
Only you, until you decide otherwise. Every item starts private, and nothing you do elsewhere in the app — adding things to Sets, connecting with people, turning on AI — changes that.
How do I share something with a specific person?
- Open the item and edit it — the sharing controls live with the item.
- Set how the item shares: Private (only you), Inherit (follow whatever its cabinet or folder does), Shared (the people you list), or Public (anyone with the link).
- For Shared, add the people from your connections. A summary of who can see the item shows right there — what you see is what they get.
Sharing a cabinet or folder with Inherit inside it is the low-effort pattern: share the container once, and everything inside that says Inherit follows along.
What does Public actually mean?
A public item gets a page anyone with the link can open — no account needed. Public folders show a browsable gallery of their public contents. Nothing is ever listed in a directory or search engine by us; "public" means reachable by link, not promoted.
How do I un-share?
The same controls, in reverse: remove a person, switch the item back to Private, or unpublish. Changes take effect immediately — links that worked stop working. Switching to Private keeps your list of people intact but inactive, so flipping back to Shared later restores it instead of making you rebuild it.
If I share a folder, does everything inside go with it?
Only the items set to Inherit — that's the point of the mode. An item inside a shared folder that's explicitly Private stays private; one that's explicitly Shared keeps its own list. The item's own setting always wins over its container's.
Can someone re-share what I've shared with them?
No. Being able to see an item doesn't grant the power to widen who else sees it — sharing decisions stay with the owner.
